This recent announcement is the latest indication that the California AG’s office will be focused on enforcing what is arguably the nation’s most stringent privacy law. In announcing the sweep, AG Bonta stated: “On this Data Privacy Day and every day, businesses must honor Californians’ right to opt out and delete personal information, including when those requests are made through an authorized agent.” The investigation was targeted at those apps that are believed to fail to offer any mechanism for consumers who wish to opt out of data sales and those that failed to process consumer requests submitted via an authorized agent. As part of the sweep, the AG’s office sent letters to businesses that offer popular mobile apps, with a focus on the retail, travel, and food service industries. Thank you for your continued trust in our partnership, now and in the future. On January 27, 2023, California Attorney General Rob Bonta announced an investigative sweep focused on mobile apps’ compliance with the California Consumer Privacy Act (“CCPA”). If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact us. Serving you, our customers, continues to be the first priority for the Kalmar team. Services remain at the heart of our business and we continue supporting our customers with lifecycle services across the globe. Our focus will be on solving our customers’ challenges in these areas through investments and innovation. Moving towards the next phase of Kalmar’s journey, we will continue to drive electrification, automation, robotisation and digitalisation across our industry. The planning for the exit from the heavy port crane business has only started but we want to assure that we continue to serve our customers with utmost dedication and will fulfil all our customer commitments, including deliveries, services as well as valid quotations and options. Going forward, Kalmar would offer industry shaping, eco-efficient mobile equipment including reachstackers, empty container handlers, forklift trucks, terminal tractors, straddle and shuttle carriers, Bromma spreaders as well as the entire Kalmar portfolio of services. Cargotec aims to shift Kalmar’s focus towards mobile solutions and start planning an exit from the heavy crane (STS, RTG, ASC and RMG) business.

On 30 March 2022 Cargotec announced its new, refocused strategy to drive sustainability and growth in profitable core businesses. The completion of the planned merger would have required approvals from all relevant competition authorities and since it was rejected by the UK Competition & Markets Authority, the planned merger between Cargotec and Konecranes cannot be completed.ĭuring the entire merger process Cargotec and Konecranes have remained as fully independent, separate companies and competitors. Kalmar’s parent company Cargotec announced on 29 March 2022 that the planned merger with Konecranes has been cancelled.
